A little Rosemary and Reading

What’s your ideal vacation? For each person, a vacation looks just a little different. Creating an environment of peace is vacation to me!

Day 3 in sunny Florida is offering us a beautiful forecast in a relaxing beach environment. For me, it’s sitting on a park bench reading a book.

Rosemary Beach

This tropical environment offers the perfect climate for outdoor comfort. Yesterday, the beach was perfect with 100% sunshine. That sunshine was a bit more than my office sun blocked body was used to. I found my sunscreen failed to “screen” certain areas or possibly I failed to adequately block those areas. Either way, beach time will definitely be limited today.

The soundscapes…

The sound of the ocean crashing up against the shoreline is almost mesmerizing. With each gush of water to the beach I thought to myself, where and how do these waves begin? How powerful water is and how serene. Water has a healing and jolting affect on our body. Greg kept telling me how healing salt water is, how much he loves being near the water. I watched him swim through the waves and anticipate each direction to dive. He was enjoying the water so much. Once I entered the water, my main concern was ensuring my suit didn’t fall short to the “crashing” of the tides. I didn’t dive through the waves like Greg, I broke them with my back. Greg knew I was in the ocean for him, it really isn’t my thing to swim.

On the beach, we would watch other families. We’d smile at each other watching the parents “gather” their kids to take pictures or get them settled and aligned to leave. Once I commented to Greg how I just want to tell that exhausted mom who is packing her baby on her hip, carrying 3 beach bags, along with using her foot to direct her toddler while her husband fumbles along beside her pushing a stroller with another child, “smile momma….honey, they don’t stay this way forever. Soon these kids grow up and become self sufficient.” What great enjoyment we had watching other beach goers.

Tonight we are hoping for a sunset cruise on the ocean. We haven’t quite convinced ourselves tonight is the night for this “Romantic Rendezvous.” We both have decided that reconnecting and regeneration is necessary for health. You don’t have to go long distances to find that peace however; sometimes it’s as simple as taking a morning walk praying, painting, sometimes it is creating something culinary or through crafting. Vacations from regular daily activity are healthy no matter where you are. If you’re at home take that break or if miles away, make it worth your time. Until next time!

Ciao, Teresa
