A thunder will crash in our hearts and minds, we together, must learn to ride the horses of change. It’s is what the futures asks of us. Our survival depends on it.

You just can’t be reluctant in helping each other….

Injustices can breed Hatred or Forgiveness…

Being a voice for the silenced, systematically frees generations of genocide. Be a voice for those who weren’t given a voice; forgive by NEVER allowing history to repeat itself, and trust that the transparency of healing, is often uncovering the buried voices.

In memory of the countless ancestors that have suffered, so I can speak through understanding and remembering. Your words, your memories, your voices….and it is my honor and privilege to carry your truths through my voice.

By opening our hearts and minds to the suffering and pain inflicted upon generations of indigenous people at the hands of assimilation policies that burdened countless families, with the yolk of pain, sorrow and the anguish of self acceptance.

Just imagine being forced…sometimes at gunpoint, ripping your child from your home, often as young as 4 years old, and that child being sent away to a boarding school to “kill the Indian, save the man” indoctrination. Being taught the blood that runs in your veins and all you know is wrong. This act, tearing apart countless families, brought egregious conditions in the native heart.

Families are the very core of our identities and our futures. Then, expecting those children and their families to assimilate and thrive in trusting in other human beings? My soul cries for all the ancestral voices that were silenced. My great great grandfathers brother was murdered in cold blood after being forced to relocate to Kansas 1885. He was murdered, “just for being an Indian.” His murderer admitted he shot him because, “he thought nothing of killing an Indian.” Valance Kennedy was only 25. The prosecuting attorney who brought our family justice was Charles Curtis, who later became VP of the United States. For Valance Kennedy’s memory, I will carry your and our family’s forgiveness and better learn our traditions and history, I will pull from your strength and resilience, and refuse to let the traumas you were made to suffer infiltrate future generations of HOPE and forgiveness. Thank you seven grandfathers:

Wisdom, Love, Respect, Truth, Honesty, Humility, and Bravery.

The mindset of the times…..20 years after this statement, Valance was murdered, the reason; because of his heritage.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Gospel of Matthew 5:3-10
